A person who laced candy with tranquilliser and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children both between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight children and an older person became sick at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
The accused was kept in jail prior to a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, detailed the criminal behavior to the court.
She explained his targets were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben played a "sweet game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "This year his stepchild had worries about the activities, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his family member alerted the police about his concerns.
She said the defendant continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"The police had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor said the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson called the law enforcement again.
She stated Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five children.
